DMFT Index & Caries Prevalence Calculation

Decay-Missing-Filling-Teeth Index

Decayed Teeth (Mean) = DT / NP

where,

  • DT = numbers of decay teeth in examined people
  • NP = numbers of examined people

Missing Mean (Mean)= MT / NP

where,

  • MT = numbers of missing teeth in examined people
  • NP = numbers of examined people.

Filling Teeth (Mean) = FT / NP

where,

  • FT = numbers of filled teeth in examined people
  • NP = numbers of examined people

DMFT Index = DT+MT+FT

where,

  • DT = Decayed teeth mean
  • MT = Missing teeth mean
  • FT = Filled teeth mean

Caries Prevalence = (NP-CP / NP) x 100

where,

  • NP = Number of people with caries prevalence (DMF-T > 0)
  • NP = Total number of examined people
